Herdrich Investigations & Consulting

“…it is the investigation work done that helps the client, often more so than the trial lawyering itself. Drug defense work often needs this sort of dedication to reach a successful result for the client.”

{ Criminal Defense
In these cases, we understand that what is required is not only patience, persistence, and attention to detail, but a willingness to have the kind of availability that an attorney will need - truly twenty-four hour flexibility. With these matters, it is not simply that every stone needs to be overturned, but that everything under that stone needs to be thoroughly examined. And, the investigator needs to be able to approach each aspect not merely thinking as the investigator out in the field, but also of his client's concern for what will be worthwhile in the courtroom. A balance of the practical side of working the investigation with an eye toward the overall value to the attorney's responsibility as an officer of the court.
{ Service of Process
Some detective agencies look down upon service of process as being little more than a glorified messenger. While it is true that a percentage of serves will be routine, effectuating service of process needs to be viewed in the light of its legal definition - that means by which a court obtains jurisdiction over an individual in relation to a matter at court. Effectuating difficult service of process requires a range of skills, from simple surveillance, to creative improvisation (always with respect given to legal guidelines) and often those skills mentioned with respect to Skip-trace/Locate Investigations.
{ Background Investigation
Perhaps one of the most important services which can be offered, because they allow a company, corporation, or individual to be pro-active. By focusing on the use of primary source verifications and information retrieval whenever possible, we pay attention not only to providing extensive information, but also to ensuring to the best of our ability that the information provided is credible. From criminal histories to property searches to interviewing references, our clients can determine what is necessary to reach their level of comfort with the potential employee, business partner or nanny.
{ Skip-trace/Locate
While it is true that information access has improved with technology, it is also true that people who are actively trying to stay hidden are not going to be on the database radar. From adoption searches to child support evasion to fraud and fraud-related matters, intensive research skills that go beyond the database which anyone can plug into are required. These need to be combined with the kind of communication or "people" skills that allow a dedicated, experienced investigator to retrieve information from unwilling sources. Our experience, from the US Army's AWOL Apprehension Team to working for local and nationwide recovery companies, can be what makes the difference for our clients.
